Prices come from our reservation system and refresh every hour. A building shown as fully rented has no space of this kind free today, which is why there is nothing to reserve on it.

Sized by the boat, priced by the bay

You store it on its own trailer, so the bay has to take the trailer's length, not the hull's. The bays we list run 8 by 15, 10 by 20, 8 by 25, 8 by 30, 10 by 30, 8 by 35, 8 by 40 and 8 by 45 feet, from $250 a month for the smallest to $725 for a 45-foot bay. Measure from the trailer tongue to the end of the outboard or the swim platform, whichever is further back, and add a foot to get the door shut.

The season, in order

  • October: haul out before the first hard freeze, not after the marina fills up.
  • Before it comes in: winterise the engine, drain and fog, pull the drain plug, empty the water systems and the head. The blog post below goes through this in the order that matters.
  • In the bay: bow up, plug out, cover on but vented. Indoors, the cover is keeping dust off, not snow, so it does not need to be tight.
  • April: batteries back in, plug back in, launch. Most tenants keep the bay through the summer for the trailer alone rather than give it up and queue for it in October.

What indoor gets you over a yard

No shrink-wrap bill, no snow on the canvas, no mice in the cushions that a tarp invites, no gelcoat going chalky in the sun for five months. And a hard floor to work on it in February if you are that sort of owner. The yard version of this, an outdoor space at East Hampton, starts at $129 and is the right answer for an aluminium boat that does not care.

Insurance and access

Your boat stays on your own marine policy; we do not insure it. In on your own code, office Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30 and Saturday 9 to 2, 24-hour access on approval for the six-in-the-morning launch.

Questions about vehicle storage

Do you store cars, boats and motorcycles?
Yes, at 264 Freestone Ave in Portland, which runs as Portland Auto, Boat and RV Storage. Heated indoor bays for cars, indoor space for boats on trailers up to about forty-five feet, and smaller spaces for motorcycles and personal watercraft. There are also outdoor vehicle spaces in East Hampton and in Portland.
Do you take RVs and campers?
We do, in the deep indoor bays at Freestone Avenue. RV spaces are not listed with a price online, so call and we will tell you what is free and what it costs.
Is a vehicle space the same as a storage unit?
No, and the price is different. A vehicle space is sized and priced for what goes in it, and the vehicle pages on this site quote them separately from the storage units.
